The Importance of Being Earnest

1 Review

A joyful and flamboyant reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece is a hilarious story of identity, impersonation and romance. Starring Stephen Fry as a fabulous Lady Bracknell. In our opinion, an evening with Wilde’s eternally brilliant quips will never be a waste.

Being sensible can be excessively boring. At least Jack thinks so. While assuming the role of dutiful guardian in the country, he lets loose in town under a false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algy takes on a similar facade. Unfortunately, living a double life has its drawbacks, especially when it comes to love. Hoping to impress two eligible ladies, the gentlemen find themselves caught in a web of lies they must carefully navigate.

If you\'re in the mood for Panto à la Bridgerton, this is your show. For me, Wilde\'s words were over-acted and felt more forced than fun. But, I may be the problem as the audience around me was roaring.

Melodrama Must-See
GIANT

“I was lucky enough to see this at The Royal Court and it was unforgettable. John Lithgow transforms into a complex, curmudgeonly Roald Dahl and leaves you with your jaw on the floor by the play's end. Sophisticated in its writing, Giant is deceptively witty, haunting and timely.”
